Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed on Friday that 22-year-old Tyler Robinson has been arrested in connection with the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The announcement came during a press conference alongside FBI officials, where Cox credited Robinson’s family for helping law enforcement track him down.
According to Cox, a family member reported Robinson after noticing troubling political changes in his behavior in recent years. The relative revealed that Robinson had openly expressed dislike for Kirk. Sources earlier suggested Robinson had confessed to his father before being turned in.
Investigators also recovered bullet casings at the scene, one of which carried a chilling inscription: “Hey fascist! Catch!” An unfired casing bore the same message, officials said.
The FBI, led by Director Kash Patel, praised the swift operation, calling the arrest “historic progress” achieved in just 33 hours. Cox emphasized the importance of the family’s decision, saying, “They did the right thing.”
The arrest marks a critical breakthrough in the high-profile case that has shaken political and law enforcement circles nationwide. Officials continue to probe Robinson’s motives and possible affiliations as the investigation unfolds.
