Eight people were taken to hospital following a stabbing incident at a factory in Mishima City, located in Japan’s Shizuoka Prefecture, on Friday. Authorities confirmed that the incident occurred at the Yokohama Rubber Mishima Plant during the late afternoon.

The situation was reported at around 4:30 p.m. local time, when a company official alerted emergency services that several individuals had been attacked with a bladed weapon inside the facility. It was also reported that a liquid substance had been scattered at the site, adding to concerns during the initial response.

Emergency crews arrived quickly and transported eight people to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. At this stage, officials have not provided details about the severity of the injuries, and their conditions remain unclear.

Police confirmed that a suspect believed to be responsible for the attack has been taken into custody. Authorities have secured the area and are continuing investigations to determine the circumstances, motive, and sequence of events that led to the incident.
