Emails released from 2010 show that former Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, invited convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein to Buckingham Palace after his release from house arrest. The correspondence contradicts previous claims made by Mountbatten-Windsor, who had insisted he distanced himself from Epstein following the financier’s 2008 conviction for abusing a 14-year-old girl.

In the emails, Epstein requested “private time” during his visit to London, and the Duke responded, suggesting dinner at Buckingham Palace with privacy assured. Two days later, he confirmed the invitation, stating that he would be free from 4 PM and Epstein could visit with anyone. It remains unclear whether the meeting took place, but the two were photographed together in New York’s Central Park a few months later, despite the Duke’s earlier claim that he had traveled to the U.S. to end the friendship.

The documents also reveal that Epstein arranged a dinner for the Duke with a “clever, beautiful, and trustworthy” Russian woman, which Mountbatten-Windsor seemed eager to accept. He also asked Epstein whether it felt good to be free from house arrest.

These revelations complicate the Duke’s public stance on his relationship with Epstein.
