Greenland’s Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt said discussions with the United States are continuing, but stressed that the talks have not yet reached Greenland’s desired direction or outcome.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Nuuk alongside her Danish and Canadian counterparts, Motzfeldt said progress remains limited and expectations should be cautious. She described the dialogue as a long-term process, noting that it is still too early to determine where negotiations will ultimately lead.
Motzfeldt emphasized that while engagement with the U.S. is welcome, Greenland has not yet achieved its key objectives. She underlined that the current phase of discussions should be seen as exploratory rather than decisive. The remarks suggest that significant differences or unresolved issues remain between the parties.
The presence of officials from Denmark and Canada highlighted broader regional interest in Greenland’s diplomatic and strategic position. However, Motzfeldt did not provide details on specific areas of disagreement or timelines for future progress. Her comments signal that Greenland is approaching the talks cautiously and does not expect quick outcomes.
