A 51-year-old Indian-origin man was arrested in Georgia on January 23, 2026, for allegedly killing his wife and three relatives during a family dispute. Three children were present.

The incident occurred early Friday morning in Lawrenceville, Georgia, when Kumar, the suspect, allegedly shot and killed his wife, Meemu Dogra (43), and three relatives: Gourav Kumar (33), Nidhi Chander (37), and Harish Chander (38). The shooting took place while the children, aged 7 to 12, were inside the home.

According to authorities, the shooting occurred after a heated argument between Kumar and his wife at their home in Atlanta. They later traveled to their relatives’ house on Brook Ivy Court, where the deadly shooting took place. Upon receiving a 911 call, police responded promptly and discovered the victims’ bodies with fatal gunshot wounds.

The children, who witnessed the tragic event, hid in a closet to protect themselves. One child managed to call 911, which helped officers arrive at the scene within minutes. The children were unharmed and were later taken into care by a family member.

Kumar was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including felony murder, aggravated assault, and cruelty to children. The motive is believed to be domestic-related, and the investigation continues.

The Indian Consulate in Atlanta expressed its grief over the tragedy, offering assistance to the grieving family.
