External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a series of high-level meetings with regional counterparts on Sunday, October 26, during the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s best wishes for the successful conduct of the summit to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

“Honoured to meet Prime Minister @anwaribrahim of Malaysia. Conveyed the best wishes of Prime Minister @narendramodi for a successful ASEAN Summit,” Mr. Jaishankar posted on social media. He said he valued Mr. Anwar’s insights on strengthening bilateral cooperation and people-to-people linkages between India and Malaysia.

On the sidelines of the summit, Mr. Jaishankar also met South Korea’s Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, where the two discussed expanding collaboration in automotive, electronics, semiconductor, defence, and shipbuilding sectors. “Appreciate the deepening of our Special Strategic Partnership,” he said.

In another meeting, the External Affairs Minister exchanged views with Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan on regional and global developments, emphasizing opportunities to enhance India–Singapore cooperation.

Mr. Jaishankar also held his first meeting with Thailand’s Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow, reaffirming India’s commitment to advancing the Strategic Partnership with Thailand.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi virtually addressed the India–ASEAN annual summit, highlighting India’s deepening engagement with Southeast Asia amid evolving geopolitical challenges.
