The Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports (JIM&WS) organised its first-ever Paragliding Fest in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, from December 1 to December 4, 2025. With 25 pilots participating from different parts of the country, the event marked a major step toward expanding adventure sports and tourism opportunities in the region.
The fest aimed to encourage youth involvement in aerial sports and to identify new paragliding locations across the valley. Two competitive categories were featured. The Accuracy Landing event was conducted at Aru Valley, while the Maximum Altitude and Airtime competition took place in Pahalgam, with takeoff from Nagraad Top and landing at the Pahalgam Golf Course.

In the Accuracy category, Ankit Kumar from New Delhi secured first place, followed by Anil Kumar and Rakesh Kumar from Himachal Pradesh. In the Maximum Altitude and Airtime category, Anil Kumar achieved first position, with Vaibhav Rai and Gautam Bharli finishing second and third.

The closing ceremony was attended by Brigadier Maneesh Parthsarthy as Chief Guest, along with senior officials from the administration and security forces. All pilots received certificates, and top performers were awarded cash prizes. Principal Colonel Hem Chandra Singh expressed gratitude to all contributors and highlighted the institute’s commitment to promoting safe and skilled adventure sports.
