Filmmaker Mira Nair, mother of New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, has been mentioned in newly released documents tied to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. This revelation adds to the growing scrutiny of Epstein’s extensive social network.
The mention appears in an email from publicist Peggy Siegal to Epstein, dated October 21, 2009. Siegal had attended an afterparty at Ghislaine Maxwell’s townhouse following a screening of Nair’s biographical film Amelia. The email lists several high-profile attendees, including former US President Bill Clinton, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and photographer Jean Pigozzi, alongside Nair. In the message, Siegal notes the film’s reception, stating, “The film received tepid reaction though women like it much more…” The casual tone of the email underscores the informal exchanges within Epstein’s circle, which included prominent figures in entertainment, politics, and business.
This email is part of a vast release of over three million pages of FBI records, made public by the US Justice Department. The disclosure also includes videos and images, marking one of the largest document releases related to the Epstein case.
While numerous public figures are referenced in the documents, including Bill Gates, Steve Bannon, Woody Allen, and Bill Clinton, none have been charged in connection with Epstein’s crimes.
