Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was sentenced to 50 months (just over four years) in federal prison on Friday after being convicted of transportation to engage in prostitution involving his two former girlfriends, Casandra Ventura and another woman identified as “Jane.” The sentencing followed a nearly two-month trial in New York City, where prosecutors described a pattern of abuse and coercion tied to Combs’ lifestyle and celebrity influence.
While Combs was acquitted in July of the most serious charges — including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking — the court heard damning testimony. Prosecutors detailed claims of Combs organizing sex acts through “freak-offs” involving drugs, escorts, and coerced participation. Several of his children testified emotionally during sentencing, while defense attorneys presented him as a reformed man who had already served 13 months in jail.
Combs addressed the court before sentencing, apologizing to his victims, family, and particularly his seven children. “I don’t have nobody to blame but myself,” he said. “I ask your honour for mercy.”
Judge Arun Subramanian cited the need for deterrence and accountability in issuing the 50-month sentence, rejecting a lighter 14-month request from the defense.
