Rescue teams in Indonesia continued searching on Saturday for a Spanish soccer coach and three of his children after a tour boat sank near Padar Island in Komodo National Park. The boat went down on Friday evening while traveling from Komodo Island to Padar after experiencing engine failure.

The vessel was carrying 11 people, including a family of six, four crew members, and a local guide. According to search and rescue officials, three people were saved by a passing boat, while four others were rescued later by emergency teams. The survivors included the Spanish mother and one daughter. The father, two sons, and another daughter remain missing.

The Spanish football club Valencia confirmed that a coach from its women’s reserve team, Fernando Martín, and three of his children were among those affected. The club stated that local authorities had confirmed their deaths. However, rescue officials said the search had not concluded and would resume after being temporarily suspended due to bad weather and poor visibility.

Search efforts involved rescue boats, a navy vessel, and local fishermen. The operation focused on waters within a five-nautical-mile radius of the sinking site. Strong waves and darkness made rescue efforts challenging.

Komodo National Park is a popular tourist destination known for its natural beauty and wildlife. Maritime accidents are relatively common in Indonesia, where boats are widely used for transportation.
