A third Iran-linked tanker entered the Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, according to shipping data cited by Reuters and reported by multiple outlets.
The Panama-flagged vessel Peace Gulf is heading toward Hamriyah port in the United Arab Emirates, based on data from LSEG.
The tanker is part of a group of vessels that transited the strategic waterway on the first full day of a United States blockade targeting ships calling at Iranian ports. The vessels were not bound for Iranian destinations and therefore were not covered under the blockade measures.
Shipping data showed that two other vessels under United States sanctions also passed through the Strait of Hormuz earlier. One tanker, identified as Murlikishan, is heading toward Iraq to load fuel oil, while another vessel, Rich Starry, transported cargo from the UAE and exited the Gulf.
The Peace Gulf typically carries Iranian naphtha to regional ports for re-export to Asian markets, according to shipping analytics data.
The movement of these vessels comes amid heightened tensions in the region following the breakdown of recent United States–Iran talks and the imposition of maritime restrictions. Despite these developments, limited tanker traffic continues through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global route for oil shipmen
