Isfahan/Washington — US-Israeli airstrikes targeted military and nuclear-linked infrastructure in Isfahan, Iran, on Tuesday, as President Donald Trump posted a video of the blasts on his social media platform. The footage shows multiple explosions lighting up the night sky, followed by fires and thick columns of smoke. Trump posted the video without a caption. Its authenticity has not been independently verified.
Reports indicate the strikes hit a major ammunition depot in Isfahan, a city of 2.3 million people that houses the Badr military airbase and facilities tied to Iran’s nuclear programme. Recent intelligence assessments suggest Iran may have moved a portion of its enriched uranium stockpile — estimated at around 540 kg — into underground facilities beneath the city. Witnesses described powerful secondary explosions and shockwaves that reached across large parts of Isfahan following the initial strikes.
The United Arab Emirates issued multiple overnight alerts. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait reported interceptions of drones and missiles. Iran struck the Kuwaiti crude carrier Al-Salmi at a Dubai port anchorage, Kuwait Petroleum Corp confirmed. The crew reported no injuries, though the attack may have caused an oil spill in surrounding waters.
The Strait of Hormuz remains closed, choking supplies of energy, fertiliser, and other commodities. Trump warned a day earlier of widespread destruction of Iran’s energy and nuclear infrastructure if Tehran does not reach a deal before the April 6 deadline.
