U.S. President Donald Trump began his second state visit to the United Kingdom on Wednesday with a ceremonial welcome at Windsor Castle. King Charles and several senior members of the British royal family greeted the president and First Lady Melania Trump as part of the opening programme of the trip.

The visit included a private viewing of items from the Royal Collection that highlight historic ties between Britain and the United States. Among the artefacts shown were documents and objects reflecting centuries of diplomatic, cultural, and military connections. Following the viewing, the Trumps were escorted to St George’s Chapel within the castle grounds, where Queen Elizabeth II, who hosted Trump on his first state visit in 2019, was laid to rest.

Windsor Castle, located west of London, is the oldest continuously inhabited castle in the world and has served as a royal residence for almost one thousand years.
The president’s programme also includes high-level discussions with British officials, economic and technology-related engagements, and attendance at state events. Security measures in and around Windsor and London were significantly heightened as large crowds gathered, including groups of demonstrators voicing opposition to the visit.
