U.S. President Donald Trump continues his diplomatic tour of Asia, meeting South Korean President Lee Jae Myung on the third stop of his regional visit. Speaking earlier at an Asia-Pacific economic summit attended by regional leaders and top CEOs, Trump said a trade deal with South Korea would be finalized “very soon,” signaling potential progress on one of his key economic priorities.

Attention now turns to Trump’s highly anticipated meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, expected to address lingering trade disputes and their broader global economic implications. The discussions are likely to focus on tariff reductions, supply chain resilience, and renewed cooperation in technology and investment sectors.

Back in Washington, however, domestic tensions continue to mount. The U.S. government remains in a partial shutdown for the 29th day, with Senate Democrats again blocking a Republican stopgap funding bill. Both parties remain entrenched, showing little sign of compromise as the shutdown’s economic and political fallout deepens.

Trump’s Asia trip underscores his effort to project international leadership even as domestic gridlock intensifies at home.
