Wildlife photography continues to highlight rare and intimate moments from nature, offering a closer look at animal life across different regions of the world.

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year People’s Choice Award 2026 has featured a wide range of images that focus on animals in their natural surroundings. These photographs capture scenes of care, survival, play, and struggle, reflecting the daily realities of wildlife. Many of the selected images highlight bonds between mothers and their young, such as a polar bear resting with her cubs and a sloth sheltering its baby from rain. These moments show how animals protect and nurture their offspring in challenging environments.

Other images focus on movement and interaction within ecosystems. A large group of dolphins working together to herd fish illustrates cooperation in marine life, while birds preparing to leave their nest capture a key stage of growth. Some photographs show rare animals or uncommon traits, including a uniquely coloured otter feeding in the wild and a tiger with unusually dark stripes moving through a reserve.

Not all scenes are calm. A few images document the harsher side of nature, such as predators hunting prey or animals bearing the aftermath of territorial battles. These photographs present wildlife as it exists, without alteration or dramatization.

Together, the selected images provide a factual and visual record of wildlife behaviour. They highlight diversity across land and sea while reminding viewers of the balance between care, survival, and competition in the natural world.
