Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese married his longtime partner Jodie Haydon on Saturday, becoming the first sitting leader in the country to wed while in office. The couple exchanged vows in a private garden ceremony at The Lodge, the prime minister’s official residence in Canberra, surrounded by close family and friends.
Albanese, 62, and Haydon, 46, wrote their own vows for the occasion. The moment marked more than a year since the prime minister proposed on Valentine’s Day 2024, describing Haydon as the person he wished to spend the rest of his life with. After the ceremony, the newlyweds walked back down the aisle to the song Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours), followed later by their first dance to The Way You Look Tonight.

Haydon has been a familiar presence at Albanese’s side during key public moments, including his 2022 election campaign and his party’s majority win earlier this year. The couple plans to spend their honeymoon within Australia, with all expenses privately covered.
Albanese, who has a son named Nathan, met Haydon more than five years ago at a business dinner in Melbourne.
