A Hezbollah official has said Israel is using negotiations with Lebanon through the United States to offset what he described as a military setback.
Hassan Fadlallah stated that Israel is attempting to “compensate” through diplomatic engagement following recent developments on the ground. He urged Lebanese authorities to reconsider their approach and align with public sentiment.
Fadlallah also criticised the Lebanese government’s decision to withdraw the army from southern areas, stating that the move left the region exposed and allowed Israeli forces greater operational freedom.
He further said Lebanon’s exclusion from ongoing United States–Iran talks in Pakistan resulted from Israeli demands. He added that Washington’s decision to separate Lebanon from the Islamabad negotiations reflected the Lebanese government’s position.
The remarks come amid ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah and parallel diplomatic efforts involving the United States and Iran. Talks between Lebanese and Israeli representatives in Washington have marked a rare instance of direct engagement between the two sides.
The situation continues to involve both military activity along the Lebanon-Israel border and diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing tensions in the region.
