Israeli Strike Hits Vehicle South of Beirut After Talks Announcement

An Israeli strike on Wednesday hit a vehicle in Saadiyat, about 20 km south of Beirut, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency.

The agency reported that Israeli aircraft targeted the car in the coastal town. The strike took place hours after Lebanon and Israel agreed to hold direct negotiations in the United States.

Israel has continued military operations in southern Lebanon as part of its conflict with Hezbollah. However, Israeli forces have not targeted areas near Beirut since April 8, when strikes across the country killed more than 350 people, according to Lebanese authorities.

There was no immediate confirmation from Israeli officials regarding the strike. Lebanese authorities have not released details on casualties or the identity of those inside the vehicle.

The incident comes amid ongoing cross-border exchanges between Israeli forces and Hezbollah since early March. Diplomatic efforts continue alongside the fighting, with the United States facilitating talks between Lebanese and Israeli representatives aimed at reducing tensions.
