Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi criticized the ICC’s handling of Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup 2026 participation. Bangladesh’s decision to boycott the tournament stems from security concerns after Mustafizur Rahman’s release by KKR.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board requested the ICC to change the venue of the tournament from India to Sri Lanka, citing safety issues. However, the ICC rejected their request, forcing Bangladesh to withdraw from the tournament. In response, Naqvi emphasized that Bangladesh should be treated fairly and allowed to participate in the World Cup. He argued that Bangladesh, as a full ICC member, deserves equal treatment.
Naqvi also clarified that Pakistan’s participation will depend on the Pakistani government’s decision. He confirmed that the PCB will follow the government’s instructions, with multiple backup plans in place in case Pakistan decides to boycott the tournament. The PCB chairman further suggested that Bangladesh be allowed the same hybrid model granted to Pakistan, where their matches are held in Sri Lanka.
Naqvi criticized any attempt to dictate terms over another country, reiterating that all ICC members should be treated equally. He stressed that no nation should be unfairly excluded or dictated by another.
