Trump and Modi Hold Phone Call Focused on Middle East Stability and Energy Security

U.S. President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a phone call on Tuesday, according to Indian media reports, during which they discussed regional developments in the Middle East and broader bilateral cooperation. The conversation lasted around 40 minutes and focused heavily on the importance of maintaining stability in global energy and trade routes.

A key topic of the discussion was the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway through which a significant portion of global oil shipments pass. Both leaders emphasized the need to keep the strait open and secure, as ongoing conflict in the Middle East continues to disrupt shipping lanes, energy markets, and supply chains worldwide.

The call comes at a time of heightened geopolitical tension, with instability in the region already contributing to volatility in oil prices and increased shipping risks. India, which relies heavily on imported crude oil, is particularly exposed to any disruptions in the Gulf region’s maritime routes.

According to reports, the leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the U.S.–India strategic partnership. Discussions reportedly included continued cooperation on energy security, trade, and regional stability in West Asia.

A White House official confirmed that the call took place but did not provide further details on its contents. The conversation reflects ongoing diplomatic engagement between Washington and New Delhi amid a broader global effort to manage the economic and security consequences of the Middle East conflict.
