A helicopter operated by Air Dynasty crashed during a landing attempt in eastern Khotang District on March 18, prompting an official investigation into the incident. The aircraft, identified as 9N-AFQ, was reportedly conducting a funeral transport mission at the time.
Video footage circulating online shows the helicopter losing stability while descending before striking the ground. The impact caused visible damage to the rotors and fuselage, with the aircraft tipping onto its side upon landing.
According to initial reports, there were no fatalities. The pilot sustained injuries and was rescued from the cockpit before being transported for medical treatment. Authorities have indicated that the pilot is in stable condition. Passengers on board were able to exit the aircraft and did not report serious injuries.
Emergency responders and local residents quickly arrived at the scene to assist with rescue efforts and secure the area, including managing potential fire risks linked to fuel leakage.
Officials have begun examining the cause of the crash, with early attention focused on possible technical issues or challenges during landing. The incident has renewed attention on aviation safety in Nepal, where mountainous terrain and rapidly changing weather conditions can complicate flight operations.
