Video: Robotic Dogs With Billionaire Heads Steal the Show at Art Basel 2025

At this week’s Art Basel Miami Beach 2025, digital artist Beeple unveiled a provocative new art installation titled Regular Animals. The installation features a pack of robotic dogs fitted with hyper-realistic silicone faces of famous tech magnates and cultural icons — including Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, as well as legendary artists Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol.

These robotic canines roam inside a display pen, their onboard cameras continuously capturing the crowd and surroundings. On a regular cycle, each robot “drops” small print artworks from its rear — each print reflecting the style associated with the face it bears. Some prints come with QR codes linking to NFTs (non-fungible tokens) on the blockchain.

The exhibit has sparked strong reactions: visitors described the spectacle as “freaky,” “disturbing,” or “brilliant,” reflecting the installation’s mix of humor, discomfort, and social critique. One of the installation’s stated aims is to comment on how a handful of tech moguls and digital platforms — rather than traditional artists — increasingly filter and shape public perception. By turning them into mechanical dogs that mass-produce art, the work satirises issues like algorithmic control, celebrity culture, and commodification in the digital age.

All robotic sculptures reportedly sold out quickly, at a price of around US $100,000 each, though the installation remains accessible for public viewing during the fair.
