Before anything else, I want you to ask yourself a question. Have you ever presented your opinion for a person based on his or her outfit? If the answer is no, then guess what, you are lying to your own self. No matter how hard you deny the fact that you have formed a particular mindset about a person based on their outfit, deep inside you are apprehensive of the fact that you have. Apparently, humans have a natural tendency to pronounce a belief for the physical appearance of a particular person. But the matter of concern doesn’t lay here. It is more about uttering something unlikely about anyone. One needs to understand the difference between keeping their opinion and forming an opinion or a better word for that would be judging. “I don’t like what she is wearing” – this is keeping your opinion. On the other hand “Look at the length of her skirt. How attention seeking!” is forming an opinion, judging and passing on an unwelcome utterance. And dolorously, no matter how so-called subtle and sober your appearance is, there always are a handful of people who will eventually process an unwanted comment.

In the case of women, showing too much of skin or dressing peculiarly leads people, specially the male population, to the misconception that the lady has dressed up to grab their attention. However, being a woman, I know for sure the fact that not all ladies dress up to impress others. Rather, pleasing themselves with their look is something which eventually is more significant on the first place. From the length of her skirt, depth her of cleavage, tightness of her jeans, width of her crop top to the height of her heels, color of her nails, and the type of her hair, not always does a woman organize herself to grab the heed of her surrounding. People asking women to dress sober, sensible and solemn, can’t even define these words. Each person has a different idea of sober, sensible and solemn and thus none can define what ‘Subtle Dressing’ actually is, big reason why one should not pass on their untoward compliment on what one wears.

In fact, the curse is not limited to only the female population. Even men have to face such filthy judgments if they dress even a bit out of the blue. Man liking pink as their outfit, nails colored, long hairs, or anything that actually doesn’t fall under the category of a ‘manly‘ get over, is pretty much likely to face questions raised on their sexuality. Men are usually differentiated into the category of studs or nerds based on their outfit and physical appearance. People need to get the fact in their heads that a high waist person with round specks, oiled hairs or closed collar buttons may be a player, a party freak, a dancer as well and not only a nerd and that a pierced person with leather jacket or quiff can be a studious and hard working brat as well.

Being judgmental is not a trait inherited by your hereditary line, neither is it any infectious disease which can be transferred from one to another through a physical medium. It is an attribute a person generates inside himself or herself with time accumulating all the pessimism from the world. One’s appearance can never decide what he or she likes, does, wants, has and specially is. People who think they can tell a lot about a person through their physical appearance and specially their outfit are extremely mistaken. No one can really judge the true self of a person just by their external mien. And almost everyone is well aware of this fact. Yet the irony is, they won’t stop. Judgmental brains will always form an opinion about anyone’s personality, character, traits and even life without having the slightest bit of idea of their background.

Moreover, when a particular dress code is decided for a particular situation, organisation or place, one should respect that and dress up accordingly. In schools, when the institute has already decided a particular uniform for the students in their premises, a student ought to wear that only. Dressing according to your will should only take place when you are not bounded by set of rules and regulations.

In the end what actually matters is how happy and satisfied the person is in his or her life. A person’s inner self, success, happiness, perseverance and other similar idiosyncrasies are a few things that should be an affair of concern . What’s in the outfit!?
