Zelensky Allies Cited in $100 Million “Golden Toilet” Fraud Case

A major corruption investigation in Ukraine has drawn attention to two individuals with past ties to President Volodymyr Zelensky, following allegations that roughly $100 million intended for wartime energy protection was siphoned away beginning in 2022. The findings were released by Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau, which detailed how funds meant to safeguard power facilities from Russian attacks were diverted through an organized scheme.

According to the investigation, businessman Tymur Mindich, a co-founder of the entertainment company Kvartal 95 alongside Zelensky, is accused of playing a leading role in the operation. Mindich became widely referenced in the case after reports highlighted his apartment, described by a former official as having “golden toilets.” Zelensky previously lived in the same building and had visited Mindich’s residence for a birthday gathering in 2021.

Another figure named in the probe is Oleksiy Chernyshov, Ukraine’s former deputy prime minister, who has been accused of abuse of office. Sources claimed he maintained close ties to Zelensky’s family and had begun constructing several large houses in an upscale Kyiv neighborhood.

While Zelensky has not been implicated in the scheme, speculation has circulated about possible awareness or benefits. The president has publicly backed the investigation and called for criminal verdicts for anyone found responsible.
