Zoho Founder Sridhar Vembu’s Divorce Case Draws Global Attention Over ₹15,000 Crore Dispute

The divorce proceedings between Zoho Corporation founder Sridhar Vembu and his estranged wife Pramila Srinivasan have become one of the most closely watched legal battles involving a tech entrepreneur. The case has gained attention due to the scale of the financial dispute, estimated at around ₹15,000 crore, and its international legal implications.

Vembu, a well-known technology entrepreneur with an estimated net worth of $5.85 billion, married Pramila Srinivasan in 1993. The couple lived in California for nearly 25 years and have a son with special needs. Pramila is associated with a nonprofit organisation focused on autism-related work.

According to court filings, Pramila stated she learned of Vembu’s intention to divorce through a message in 2020, with a formal petition filed in a US court in August 2021. She has alleged that Vembu abandoned the family after moving to India in 2019 and carried out complex transfers of company assets without her consent, including the movement of Zoho-related shares and intellectual property.

Vembu has denied all allegations, stating through his legal team that the claims are false. His lawyers maintain he owns only 5 percent of Zoho and had offered half of his shares to Pramila. A California court has ordered Vembu to post a $1.7 billion bond to safeguard community assets during the proceedings.
