Armed Intruder Shot Dead Near Trump Residence in Florida

Security officials say an armed individual was killed after breaching a protected area near the US president’s private residence in Florida.

An armed man was shot dead after entering the secure perimeter of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property in Florida during the early hours of Sunday. Authorities said the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. local time while the president was in Washington, DC.

According to officials, the suspect was carrying a shotgun and a fuel can when he approached a gated area of the property. Secret Service agents and a local sheriff’s deputy confronted the man and ordered him to drop the items. When he failed to comply and raised the weapon, officers fired their weapons to stop the threat. No law enforcement personnel were injured during the incident.

The man was later identified as Austin T Martin from North Carolina. Earlier that morning, his family had reported him missing to local authorities in his home state. Officials said there was no prior criminal history involving him at the county level, and the missing person report has since been handed over to federal investigators.

The United States Secret Service said the suspect had unlawfully entered a restricted security zone. Investigators are examining whether the weapon was loaded and how it was obtained. The FBI is assisting with the investigation.

Security around Mar-a-Lago remains extensive, with multiple layers of protection involving federal agents and local law enforcement. The incident adds to heightened concerns about threats targeting political leaders in the United States.
