Baftas 2026 Celebrate a Year of Diverse and Acclaimed Cinema

The Baftas 2026 recognised outstanding achievements in filmmaking, with multiple films and performers honoured across major categories.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Film Awards showcased a wide range of storytelling from the past year. One Battle After Another emerged as the most awarded film, winning six honours including best film, director, adapted screenplay, editing, cinematography and supporting actor. The film’s success marked it as the standout production of the ceremony.

Hamnet also had a strong showing, winning outstanding British film and earning acting recognition for its lead performance. I Swear, Sinners and Frankenstein followed closely, each securing three awards across acting, technical and writing categories. These results reflected a balance between large-scale productions and more intimate, character-driven films.

In the acting categories, Jessie Buckley won leading actress for her role in Hamnet, while Robert Aramayo took leading actor for I Swear. Supporting honours went to Wunmi Mosaku for Sinners and Sean Penn for One Battle After Another. Aramayo was also named rising star, an award voted for by the public.

Technical categories highlighted achievements in costume design, production design, sound and visual effects, with Frankenstein and Avatar: Fire and Ash among the winners. Zootropolis 2 claimed best animated film, while Boong won the children’s and family film award.

Overall, the 2026 ceremony highlighted a year marked by variety, strong performances and broad creative ambition across the film industry.
