Report Claims Iran Used Chinese Satellite to Target US Bases; China Denies Allegation

Iran used a Chinese satellite to monitor and target United States military bases across West Asia during the ongoing conflict, according to a report by the Financial Times citing leaked Iranian military documents. China has rejected the allegation.

The report stated that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force acquired the TEE-01B satellite after its deployment. The satellite was built and launched by China-based company Earth Eye Co.

According to the documents, Iranian commanders used the satellite to track key United States military sites. The report said the system captured images in March before and after drone and missile strikes.

The report also stated that the arrangement provided Iran access to commercial ground stations operated by Beijing-based Emposat, enabling satellite control and data services across multiple regions.

China’s foreign ministry denied the claims and said the reports are false. In a statement, officials said some actors are spreading fabricated information and linking it to China without basis. The ministry said China opposes such actions and described them as driven by ulterior motives.

Iran has not issued an official response to the specific details mentioned in the report.

The development comes amid ongoing tensions involving Iran, the United States, and regional actors, with increased focus on surveillance capabilities and external involvement in the conflict.
