RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat called on Hindus in Bangladesh to unite and defend their rights amid rising violence.
Speaking at the RSS centenary lecture series in Mumbai, Bhagwat highlighted that Bangladesh has around 1.25 crore Hindus. He said that if they choose to remain in the country and assert their rights, Hindus worldwide would support them. His remarks came in the context of increasing attacks on minorities following political unrest and the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Recent months have seen mobs targeting Hindus, including businessmen, students, and laborers, during street protests that escalated into organized assaults.
Bhagwat stressed the importance of peaceful action and self-reliance. He said that global support would be available for Hindus who stay and protect their communities rather than leave the country. On domestic matters, he mentioned that past governments had not adequately addressed population changes and illegal immigration, but he expressed confidence that current efforts would be more effective.
He also clarified that the RSS operates without corporate or institutional funding, relying entirely on contributions from its members. The organization welcomes participation from all castes and maintains a policy of avoiding confrontation in Muslim-majority areas.
The centenary event emphasized the RSS’s focus on social unity, organization, and support for vulnerable communities while encouraging peaceful, collective action to address challenges faced by minorities.
