U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a landmark address to Israel’s parliament on Monday, declaring the Gaza ceasefire he helped broker as the “historic dawn of a new Middle East.” Speaking after the release of the final Israeli hostages held by Hamas, Trump praised the cessation of violence and emphasized a future built on regional cooperation and peace.
“This is not only the end of a war,” Trump said. “Today the skies are calm, the guns are silent, the sirens are still… the sun rises on a holy land that is finally at peace.”
Trump thanked Arab and Muslim nations for their role in pressuring Hamas to release the hostages, describing their involvement as an “incredible triumph for Israel and the world.” He hinted at unexpected alliances that contributed to the deal, saying, “We had a lot of help from people you wouldn’t suspect.”
Reflecting on the conflict that began on October 7, 2023, Trump said the war had been a “painful nightmare” for Israelis, one that had now come to an end. He urged Palestinians to choose a path away from “terror and violence,” and declared that extremism, jihadism, and antisemitism had “failed.”
