Zelensky Warns of Humanitarian Crisis During London Talks with UK’s Keir Starmer

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned of a looming “humanitarian disaster” in Ukraine as he met British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London on Thursday. The two leaders discussed ongoing Russian attacks on energy and civilian infrastructure, and the growing toll on Ukrainian communities as winter approaches.

Outside 10 Downing Street, Starmer and Zelensky shared a brief embrace — a gesture underscoring the UK’s continued commitment to Kyiv amid shifting geopolitical priorities. The meeting highlighted Britain’s intent to remain one of Ukraine’s most dependable allies, even as discussions across Europe turn to the future of long-term military and humanitarian aid.

Starmer acknowledged that “there’s more to do” to strengthen Ukraine’s long-range defense capabilities, a message he is expected to reiterate at an upcoming meeting of the European “coalition of the willing.”

Earlier in the day, Zelensky also met King Charles — their third meeting this year — in a continued show of royal and diplomatic solidarity.

Meanwhile, in Washington, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced new sanctions targeting two of Russia’s largest oil companies, a move aimed at pressuring Moscow toward negotiations.
