Severe storms and cyclone-driven rainfall have triggered widespread flooding and landslides across several Asian countries, leaving more than 1,000 people dead and hundreds still missing. Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Sri Lanka have each faced devastating conditions, with rescue operations hampered by collapsed infrastructure, rising waters and limited access to remote communities.

Indonesia has recorded at least 502 deaths after Cyclone Senyar triggered massive landslides in Sumatra. Thousands remain missing as military and police units struggle to reach isolated areas. Entire neighborhoods have been swept away, leaving survivors with destroyed homes and scarce supplies.

In Thailand, extreme flooding in the south has killed at least 176 people and affected nearly 2.8 million. Hat Yai city experienced once-in-300-years rainfall, submerging districts and cutting access to hospitals. Families spent days trapped in upper floors as water reached more than eight feet.

Sri Lanka, struck by Cyclone Ditwah, has reported at least 355 deaths and large-scale displacement. Over 25,000 homes were destroyed, with many families stranded without communication for days. Relief organizations are delivering meals and supplies by boat.

Malaysia also suffered severe flooding, with two deaths and tens of thousands evacuated as waters surged across northern regions.
