Epstein sent £10,000 to Lord Mandelson’s husband after conviction, emails reveal

Emails suggest that Jeffrey Epstein sent £10,000 to Lord Peter Mandelson’s husband, Reinaldo Avila da Silva, in the year after Epstein’s conviction. The funds were reportedly used to pay for an osteopathy course.

In the same batch of emails, Mandelson is shown requesting to stay at one of Epstein’s properties while the financier was serving his jail term. Although Epstein was incarcerated, his sentence allowed him to work during the day and return to jail at night. The connection between Mandelson and Epstein continued despite Epstein’s legal troubles and conviction.

Mandelson later admitted that it was a mistake to maintain his relationship with Epstein after his conviction, but he denied being “culpable or complicit” in Epstein’s crimes. The former UK ambassador to the US was dismissed in September 2025 when it was revealed that he had sent supportive messages to Epstein following his conviction.

The emails bring new attention to Mandelson’s association with Epstein, shedding light on the complex ties between the two men even after Epstein faced legal consequences for his actions.
