Further details have emerged regarding the stabbing incident outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester. Four people have been injured following a combined car and stabbing attack, Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham confirmed.
Police were alerted at 9:31 BST by a witness who reported a car being driven towards members of the public, followed by a stabbing. The injured individuals sustained wounds from both the vehicle and the stabbing.
The suspect was shot by police at the scene and is believed to be dead, according to Mayor Burnham. Emergency services continue to treat those injured, while the area remains cordoned off as investigations are ongoing.
The attack occurred on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, adding to the gravity of the situation. Authorities have appealed for calm and are urging the public to avoid the area while inquiries proceed.
