Cristiano Ronaldo took a selfie from a White House dinner hosted by Donald Trump - left to right: Elon Musk, Gianni Infantino, David Sacks, Allison Lutnick, Howard Lutnick, Ronaldo, Georgina Rodriguez, Greg Brockman

Cristiano Ronaldo made a rare public appearance in the United States as he attended a White House dinner hosted by Donald Trump to welcome Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Joined by his fiancรฉe Georgina Rodriguez, Ronaldo shared the room with influential political, business and tech leaders. A selfie taken by Ronaldo later surfaced online, showing him alongside Elon Musk, David Sacks, Gianni Infantino, Rodriguez and US secretary of commerce Howard Lutnick.

During the event, Trump praised Ronaldo and noted that his son had been excited to meet the soccer star. The dinner brought together guests including JD Vance, Marco Rubio, Mike Johnson, Tim Cook and Donald Trump Jr. It also marked the Crown Princeโ€™s first visit to the US since intelligence agencies linked him to the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Trump reiterated earlier in the day that the Crown Prince had no involvement.

Ronaldoโ€™s appearance drew attention because he had not been publicly photographed in the US since allegations made against him in 2017, which he denied. A lawsuit related to the accusations was dismissed in 2022. His visit comes ahead of the World Cup hosted partly in the US and an upcoming friendly match in Atlanta.
